بعد تخرجه من معهد الدراسات الإسلامية في جامعة ماكجيل مع الدكتوراه.
قضى عدة سنوات عمل باحثا ما بعد الدكتوراه في العديد من المؤسسات في ألمانيا (جامعة بوهر روهر، جامعة جورج أوغست غوتنغن، معهد ماكس بلانك لتاريخ العلوم في برلين). ركزت أبحاثه وتعليمه خلال هذه الفترة على التاريخ الفكري الإسلامي وعلى استقبال التعلم القديم في الإسلام.
الاهتمامات البحثية :
يتناول بحث الدكتور جانوس جوانب مختلفة من التاريخ الفكري الإسلامي، مع التركيز على الفلسفة والفلسفة العربية المبكرة أو الكلاسيكية، ونقل الفلسفة والعلوم اليونانية للإسلام. وهو مهتم أيضا بالتفسير الديني الإسلامي وفي التبادلات والحوار بين الأديان، وكذلك في الإسهام الفكري للمفكرين المسيحيين العرب، وهو موضوع تم تناوله في مجلده المحرر مؤخرا عن الفلسفة العربية المسيحية في بغداد. وقد نشر في مختلف جوانب تاريخ الفلسفة والعلوم العربية، بما في ذلك الميتافيزيقا وعلم الكونيات وعلم الفلك وعلم التنجيم، والفلسفة العربية المسيحية. وهو يقوم حاليا بإعداد دراسات مونوغرافية عن الميتافيزيقا في ابن سينا وفقه الدين الفلسفي فخر الدين الرازي.
