عضو هيئة التدريس في جامعة نيويورك أبو ظبي ، قسم الفلسفة ،
مجالات البحث :
الفلسفة العربية الكلاسيكية ، أرسطو ، أفلاطون .
وهو مؤلف كتاب : ابن الطفيل (أكسفورد ، 2014) وأكثر من ثلاثين بحثاً حول الفلسفة العربية والتقاليد الأرسطية.
قبل انضمامه إلى جامعة ولاية نيويورك ، شغل تانلي مناصب دائمة في الفلسفة في جامعة فيكتوريا (كندا) ؛ التاريخ في جامعة يوفاسكولا (فنلندا) ؛ والدراسات الدينية في جامعة أوتاجو (نيوزيلندا).
حصل على شهادة الدكتوراه عام 2002 من جامعة هلسنكي.
