إيان نيتون
Ian Netton
أستاذ الدراسات الإسلامية في جامعة اكستر
ولد في سنغافورة ونال درجة البكالوريوس في اللغة العربية في مدرسة الدراسات الشرقية والأفريقية في جامعة لندن، وتخرج في عام 1972،
وحصل على الدكتوراه من جامعة إكستر (الدراسات العربية والإسلامية، 1976)،
وتخصص في الفلسفة الإسلامية في العصور الوسطى .
من 1977-1995 بدء تدريس الفكر والحضارة العربية والاسلامية في جامعة إكستر
وفي سبتمبر 1995 أصبح ألاستاذ ألاول للدراسات العربية في جامعة ليدز وبقي فيها حتى عام 2007، وشغل لأربع فترات منصب رئيس الإدارة أن جامعة العربية ودراسات الشرق الأوسط. وكان أيضا مدير جامعة ليدز , لدراسات العصور الوسطى 1997-2002. وفي عام 2007 تم تعيينه أستاذ الشارقة الدراسات الإسلامية في جامعة إكستر.
تتركز اهتماماته البحثية على :
الدين الإسلامي والفلسفة والصوفية والرحالة العرب في العصور الوسطى، العربية وببليوغرافيا الإسلامية ، والدراسات الإسلامية العامة.
وهو مؤلف أو محرر 21 كتابا .
