عضو هيئة التدريس في جامعة كيب تاون، قسم الدراسات الدينية،
وقد درس في جامعة نابولي حيث جمع بين دراسة اللغتين العربية والهوسا مع التاريخ الإسلامي والأفريقي.
وقد حصل على شهادة في الدراسات الإسلامية في عام 2000 ودكتوراه في الدراسات الأفريقية.
من اهتماماته البحثية :
الدراسات الصوفية , الاسلام في افريقيا , داعش في افريقيا , السلفية , الوهابية , تفسيرالقرآن.
